The Green Conure can be found in a variety of habits from mountainous ranges, scrub land, forests and lowlands.  They travel about in noisy flocks which will increase in size, and noise, as food becomes more abundant.  They are high flying birds and they would pass by overhead unnoticed if not for their shrieking calls.

Their diet consists of seeds, fruit, nuts, berries and leaf buds, they are also known to raid farmers crops.

They nest in holes in trees, a normal clutch is anything up to 5 eggs.

As their name would suggest the Green Conure is a predominately green bird.  Their underparts are a paler more yellowish green, and their under wing coverts are yellowish green.  Their under flight feathers and tail are a dull looking greenish yellow.  Occasionally they can have a few red feathers on their head.  Their bill is horn coloured and their iris's are a reddish orange colour.

Pet potential: Green Conures would make exceptional pets if it wasn't for their loud call, this does limit them to owners who can tolerate a lot of noise and that don't have close neighbours.  If you can stand the noise they make intelligent affectionate pets and their talking ability is quite good.

Interesting fact: Green Conures have also been known to nest in termite nests.
