Green Cheeked Conures can be found in woodland and light forests, often found at the edges of clearings or savannahs.  Out of breeding season they are gregarious birds they can be seen in flocks of 10-20 birds, sometimes a lot more!

Their diet consists of seeds, fruit, buds and berries which they forage from the tree tops.

They nest in hollow trees and a normal clutch is 3-4 eggs.

The plumage of the Green Cheeked Conure is generally green.  They have a reddish-brown forehead with brown ear coverts, the sides of their neck, throat and upper breast is a lighter brown tinged with green.  The top section of their tail is a vibrant maroon.  Their beak and legs are grey.

Pet potential: Although only small they can make delightful pets.  They are very active, clever little birds.  Their inquisitive nature can make them very mischievous.  They can be taught a few words but generally their talking ability it poor.  You need to keep them occupied because they can be rather nippy especially if they become bored.

Noise level: Moderate, they are one of the quietest Conures

Cage requirements: min 20 x 20 inches with 1/2 - 5/8 inch bar spacing

Interesting fact:  These small conures have a reputation as being extremely nipping around the time of weaning, don't worry, this stage does pass.
